Are you looking for ways to improve your mental and physical well-being? Consider exploring the practice of mindfulness and yoga! With 22 years of experience in the field, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge about how mindfulness and yoga can help you. This blog serves as a space to learn more about these practices, gain insight into their benefits, and find reminders that will help you stay on track with your wellness journey.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is an ancient practice that emphasizes being mindful of one’s thoughts and actions. It has been around for thousands of years, but is becoming increasingly popular in today’s modern world. The goal of mindfulness is to be present in the moment with awareness and non-judgmental acceptance of our thoughts and feelings. Being mindful helps us become aware of our own thoughts, behaviours, emotions, and reactions so that we can make conscious decisions that lead to healthier outcomes.

What is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient practice originating in India that combines physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) , relaxation techniques (shavasana) , concentration (dharana) , meditation (dhyana) , chanting (mantra), and philosophy . The goal of yoga is to bring about a union between the mind, body, and spirit through movement, breath work, relaxation, focus on energy flow within the body, meditation, chanting mantras, and philosophical contemplation. There are various styles of yoga including Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Restorative Yoga , Yin Yoga and Kundalini Yoga . Each style brings its own unique set of benefits depending on your individual needs ( there are many ore kinds of yoga- this is not a complete list).

Through regular practice of mindfulness and yoga we can reduce stress levels while increasing self-awareness. Our overall health improves as we develop better quality sleep habits which leads to improved mental clarity and emotional balance.
